Try-A-Trade Presented by BC Hydro (Vernon Campus)

REGISTRATION OPENS FEBRUARY 11 @ 9:00 AM

Do you have someone in your household aged 12-29 who is interested in learning more about a career in the trades? Then this event is for them and YOU, the parent/caregiver. 

To bolster the development of trades talent in the Central Okanagan, the Canadian Home Builders' Association  - Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO), along with Okanagan College, is thrilled to introduce TRY-A-TRADE presented by BC HYDRO. This event will demystify the world of trades and inspire the next generation of builders. 

Students will experience two hands-on workshops that will each be 45 minutes in length. Led by OC instructors with mentors from our local residential construction industry. During the same time, parents have the option to attend up to two panel presentations with discussions from industry experts on what a career in the trades looks like, the future of the industry and more. The second panel will focus on the dual credit program offered throughout SD22.

This is a FREE event to attend. Light bites will be offered. Tradeshow opportunity before and during the event with industry partners. Don't miss out - there are only 60 spots available for students. 

STUDENT WORKSHOP OPTIONS (AGES 12-29)
*Each student will experience TWO workshops during the event

• Plumbing
• Refrigeration
• Electrical
• Carpentry
• Sheet Metal - Focused on hand skills that would apply to the various trades represented by the umbrella named "sheet metal" including flashing, cladding and HVAC workers.
