Sealed for Success - EDUCATION - BUILDING ENVELOPE MOCKUP EXPO - ENERGY EFFICIENT CODE-READY SOLUTIONS
November 14, 2025 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) (PST)
Description
Sealed for Success Presented by Westeck Windows is a day-long event for members and non-members to attend. There will be two education sessions (8AM-12:15PM and 1PM-5PM) both giving 4 CPD points. The tradeshow is FREE and will run 8AM-5PM. There will also be a presentation from CHBA CEO, Kevin Lee from 11:45-12:15PM (FREE to attend).
Attendees will gain valuable insights into cutting-edge building envelope solutions, mechanical systems, and technologies that support high-performance building practices.
BUILDING ENVELOPE MOCK-UP EXPO - ENERGY EFFICIENT CODE-READY SOLUTIONS
FIRST EDUCATION SESSION: 8AM - 12:15PM*
SECOND EDUCATION SESSION: 1PM - 5PM
The 2025 Builder Mock-up Fest (The Fest) is a unique, one-day in-person training event providing flexible, drop-in professional development for Part 9 builders interested in expanding their knowledge of high-performance construction. This training is specifically designed to support the adoption of Steps 4 and 5 of the BC Energy Step Code (ESC) and Emission Level 2+ of the Zero Carbon Step Code (ZCSC) requirements.
The Fest encourages guided and self-exploration through a series of hands-on educational stations. These stations showcase a mix of physical or digital building enclosure mock-ups with durable, constructible, and regionally appropriate solutions for higher-R-value assemblies and airtight detailing.
Participants will walk away with a physical workbook detailing key learning concepts and resources for future reference. Additionally, the event offers networking opportunities, a panel discussion, and a dedicated "Coffee Corner" to ask questions with Energy Advisors or Building Science Specialists. This early exposure to tested solutions will help builders gain confidence faster and reduce the risks of using new low-energy technologies on their projects.
By the end of this course, trainees will be able to:
1. Recognize the jump in performance requirements necessary to meet BC Energy Step Code (ESC) Steps 4 and 5 and Zero Carbon Step Code (ZCSC) Emission Level 2+.
2. Implement key detailing approaches to achieve high-performance airtightness.
3. Evaluate insulation and air barrier strategies based on buildability, continuity, and renewability.
4. Apply constructible and regionally appropriate building enclosure solutions demonstrated by mock-ups to mitigate risks on future projects.
5. Use knowledge of code requirements to optimize the building enclosure to meet mechanical efficiency and operation requirements.
* We’re excited to welcome Kevin Lee, CHBA National CEO, visiting from Ottawa to share the latest on CHBA’s federal advocacy—covering key housing policy wins like the GST rebate and national efforts to improve housing affordability and supply.
A rare opportunity to hear directly from our national leader!
