This session offers a deep dive into the value of an integrated design process (IDP) for ensuring code compliance under the latest NBC 2020 updates.

  • Code Comparisons: Explore the NBC 2020 code updates and how they compare to previous requirements, with a focus on both prescriptive and performance pathways.
  • Regional Customization: This workshop is customized with provincial code variations specific to the Okanagan, demonstrated with a locally constructed home as a model 
  • Local Expertise: Using a locally built home as an archetype, the session will model different design options to showcase the journey from code-minimum to tiered upgrades.
  • Hands-On Learning: Participate in an IDP charrette—a collaborative working session that brings together various attendees to discuss and refine design choices. Breakout groups will facilitate in-depth discussions, inviting questions and reinforcing key learnings.
  • Takeaways: Attendees will leave with critical updates on code compliance specific to our region, equipped to apply these insights to their own projects.
